How To Stop Food Cravings

Most people fail on diets because of the restrictions in the “latest eating plan”. Almost all diets tell us what to eat, and most of the time, it isn’t our favorite foods. We are left eating foods we don’t like in smaller portion sizes. This can leave us feeling hungry, unsatisfied and out of control. If you know this feeling all too well, then here are some tips on how to lose weight without ever feeling hungry.

The number one tip for losing weight without getting those hunger pangs is to make sure you are drinking adequate amounts of water. Your body needs water to function properly, and when you are dehydrated, these pangs can often feel like hunger pains. When we mistake hunger for thirst, we overeat. In order to combat this problem, keep a bottle of water handy at all times.

If you feel hunger pangs coming on, try going for a walk or performing some other light exercise. Focusing on the way your body is moving during exercise will take your mind off of your hunger and may reduce hunger pangs entirely. Not only will exercise keep you from eating excessively, but it will also help you to shed those extra pounds faster!

If your next meal seems too far away, try chewing gum instead. Opt for the sugar-free variety to keep your teeth healthy, and chew away! Mint flavored gum may also have a psychological effect on your hunger pangs, as it will remind you of brushing your teeth, and you will no longer feel the urge to eat.

If you simply can’t ignore your hunger pangs, and you find that you must snack, then make it a healthy snack. Fruits and vegetables are great for snacks and won’t add too many calories to your day. Keep fresh fruit and chopped veggies on hand at all times to keep yourself from grabbing an unhealthy snack when the hunger strikes.
